PHYSICAL

DOMAIN

The physical development of your child is often at the forefront of many activities they are doing in their free time such as playing with their toys, doing recreational sports, or even just going for a walk. But it is often not known what skills are actually being developed other than general muscle strength. The physical domain can be broken into two main sections: fine motor and gross motor skills. As the names suggest fine motor skills is the development of all those tiny muscles in our fingers and hands that are extremely important for so many day to day tasks. Building these muscles are very important as they help us with dressing such as doing zippers and buttons, in eating and using tools such as utensils and scissors, as well as writing and drawings. Although these muscles are very little, they hold such a big role, so it is important for your child to master these skills. Gross motor skills are focused on the big muscle groups that help with whole body movements. Gross motor skills are equally as important because they help us move through the world and perform many everyday functions such as: standing, walking, jumping, hoping, throwing etc. These muscles also help us with other important skills such as core strength, balancing, and coordination. With the activities we have chosen, your little one will be able to develop their fine motor skills and gross motor skills in a fun and engaging way!
