COGNITIVE

DOMAIN

Cognition skills often differ significantly between children of the same age, and may be difficult to define. Children who are entering preschool or kindergarten will begin learning to problem-solve and ask a whole host of questions. They will observe more details using all of their five senses, and will begin to represent familiar emotions, objects, or people, including through drawings, art, and dramatic play. Additionally, their analytical skills (classifying, counting, comparing, patterning, and more) will often flourish as they continue to understand more about the world around them. We have chosen to highlight activities that exercise your child’s brain and help prepare them for what they will come across in school.
